PPV IPT UNIMAS wishes everyone a merry Sarawak Day.
Today is a holiday Sarawakians observe to honour Sarawak independence on 22 July 1963. At PPV IPT UNIMAS, for the working forces and volunteers, this is another day of serving the nation, ahh, but there is a fun twist.
PPV IPT UNIMAS is quite well known to welcome cute creatures and superhero vaccine receivers. Today it is glitter in the skies, glitter in your eyes – gorgeous. The university’s taskforce and volunteers don beautiful traditional dresses and warriors’ Gagong (a type of Iban warrior costume), amongst others, to show our pride and embody our appreciation of belonging to Sarawak’s colorful diversity.
Celebration of Sarawak Day at PPV IPT UNIMAS is glorious.
The majestic Negaraku and Ibu Pertiwiku can be heard from the main door of the vaccination hall. What a sight it was to see everyone in the hall standing and singing together.
Quoting the words of our Vice Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi, “…Kita mengambil kesempatan dan peluang ini untuk kita sama-sama merayakan dan meraikan Hari Sarawak dengan cara kita sendiri…” – The members of PPV IPT UNIMAS make this an opportunity to celebrate and commemorate Sarawak Day with our own way, a uniquely UNIMAS way.
Tuan Hj Azlan Ramli, our Registrar, mentioned that the PPV IPT UNIMAS’ management wanted to make Hari Sarawak a special and memorable day not only for those on duty but to vaccine recipients, and thus this idea was realised.
The timing is impeccable. This in-house festivity also celebrates the success of 100,000 vaccine distribution by PPV IPT UNIMAS, 21 July 2021, marking a new milestone in UNIMAS’ history.
