Academic Training

Introduction
UNIMAS is fully committed to ensure all academics to gain the relevant knowledge, skills and expertise to perform their work consistently at high standard and to achieve their full potential in teaching and learning. Nurturing excellent educators is one of the commitments of the university towards excellence in education and training. Thus, in ATU, we provide trainings and development or our academics towards enhancing the performance and achievements.
SCOPE
Trainings are provided not only by CALM, but also from other Faculties or Centers. All academics staffs of UNIMAS irrespective of their employment status, function, grade or location are welcome to join the training. These opportunities are provided throughout the year due to their needs in teaching and learning skills, theories and practicals.
ATU’s play important part to coordinate CALM’s courses that focus on Teaching and Learning. Besides, ATU provide approval for other Faculties or Centers to organize their workshops related to their needs.

COVID-19
Due to the current pandemic, all workshops are done via online using different platforms such as Webex, Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams.

On-Campus Training
On Campus Training is conducted in the university. ATU is responsible for distributing funding allocations for Faculties or Centers to conduct workshops related to the improvement of academic teaching and learning. ATU also conducts workshops that support the teaching and learning of academicians be it off-line or online. In addition, our unit also monitors the use of budget allocations as well as the effectiveness of workshops conducted by the Faculties or Centers.

Off Campus
ATU is also responsible in processing applications from academic staff to attend off campus courses within the country. Financial support for approved application includes training fees, travel costs, accommodation and food allowances as stipulated in the Bursary Circular on Rate and Entitlement (WP1.10). Upon completion of the training, the applicant is required to conduct a knowledge sharing session at his or her respective faculty or at university level as well as to submit a written report.
